Photography
The photography course provides students with the background and experience to take beautiful pictures and to develop and print well-crafted photographs. Students learn to use a 35mm single lens reflex camera with a normal lens, and how to use light to advantage while shooting with natural light and with flash and some studio lighting. Darkroom techniques studied include black and white film developing, and printing. Composition formatted through the viewfinder, is an integral part of each assignment. Students learn to properly present their prints, and to evaluate all of their own work, as well as the work of others. They also study the history of photography and the role of photography in contemporary society.
Prerequisite: Drawing or Electronic Design
Advanced Photography
The Advanced Photography course is designed for the serious student who has demonstrated motivation and self-direction, and may be pursuing a career in fine arts.
